This study was approached by using SPH in which a high volume of flow is required to discharge though a very limited spillway surface. The solution provided was to redistribute the original arcuate spillway length into an arcuate labyrinth spillway following a small and deep basin which leads into a regular spillway. This elegant solution allowed to take advantage of both designs and it was possible to release large volumes of water for a broad range of input discharges.
